Perfect Mix

Hello, lovelies!  I'm back from a fabulous weekend in the mountains at a crafting retreat - pure bliss!  No obligations and quality time with my inks and stamps.  Lots of goodies coming soon, but I wanted to share an old card first!

At the beginning of the Occasions Catalogue, my upline hosted a team swap; we each chose a stamp set and made cards, then swapped them all so we had a set of samples with lots of different ideas.  I chose Perfect Mix; I love the baking images!

I whipped up an adorable mixer card - which I loved - but it was TOTALLY impractical for a swap.

Can you guess why?  If you know the stamp set, I'm sure you can!  The mixer and the sentiment are actually both part of the same stamp, so to create the background, I had to mask it; cover the sentiment with masking tape, stamp in the ink, peel of the masking tape, and stamp on the card.  And there are 11 mixers on this card... What a nightmare that was going to be!  I loooove this card, but it is NOT perfect for mass-production!  Back to the drawing board...

This is the next design I came up with.  This one was a keeper!

This one was great!  Not too hard to cut the images, an easy background, and super cute.  Flirty Flamingo and Pool Party go great with Smoky Slate for a sweet colour combo.  A bit of Wink Of Stella on the measuring spoons adds the perfect shimmer!

I love swapping with my teammates, and this card was a blast to make.  I hope it inspires you to cook something up in your craft room!

Cheers,
Shannon

Dragonfly Dreams: Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop

Hi friends - thanks so much for visiting today for our Artisan Design Team blog hop!  After saying G'Day to Rochelle in Australia, you're now with me, Shannon, in Canada, and will be off to say Guten Tag to Sylwia in Germany next - we've got a trip around the world, so get comfy!

Today's product feature is the Dragonfly Dreams bundle - oh, this one is SO swoon-worthy!  I chose a colour pallet of blues, greens, and yellows, and got to work with the watercolour.

Can I tell you a secret?  I'm pretty convinced that I've learned the best thing there is to learn about watercolouring.  Are you sitting down?  KEEP GOING.  That's it.  That's my big revelation.  Everything looks like garbage when you start, and then it seems to get worse - and then a LOT worse - before it gets better.  Just keep at it.  Push through the ugly.  I promise it's worth it!  (Or maybe that's just me?!)

I think my favourite part of this card is where I added the Wink Of Stella - I learned that if I squeeze my brush, I get some bubbles of the glimmer that leak out of it.  "Sticking" those bubbles to my card and letting them pop and dry resulted in these cool little patterns - super neat, right?

And of course, it's still Sale-A-Bration, so let's talk about my favourite F-word: FREE.  The amazingly gorgeous Bermuda Bay glimmer paper (which comes with Sweet Sugarplum and Mint Macaron glimmer paper, too) is FREE with a $60 order, which means it is yours with the purchase of the Dragonfly Dreams bundle!  Huzzah!

Now let's go see Sylwia and check out what she's been up to...

Thanks again for coming by, and have a great day!

Bright Birthday

Hi friends!  Just another stop-in today with another card for you.  This one has already appeared on social media, but in a bit of a different context.  Let's take a look.

Is it obvious lately that I'm in love with the Cupcakes & Carousels DSP?  It's just so FUN!

This card has a little tip on it - the curly bracket in the Carousel Birthday stamp set fits perfectly with our Decorative Label punch.  It adds such a nice little design to the edge!  Want to put it on both sides?  Stamp and punch one side, then use your Stamp-A-Ma-Jig tool to add the bracket to the bottom, too.  Easy-peasy!

And that sentiment?  FREE in the Designer Tee stamp set with Sale-A-Bration!

Have a lovely Sunday, friends.

Cheers,
Shannon
